What is the Hawkesbury Classic series?

The IHNSW sanctioned ‘best of’ series features the Newcastle Northstars and the Sydney Ice Dogs. The first four games are scheduled evenly between Hunter Ice Skating Stadium and Macquarie Ice Rink, the remaining games will be scheduled as needed.

How can I watch the games?

A limited amount of tickets will be available for local fans for each game. Every game will be livestreamed on www.hawkesburyclassic.com.au so you can enjoy home grown hockey, safely in your own home.

How do I purchase a ticket to view the livestream?

You can find the details and livestream for each game here.
On the link for each game it has the game details and livestream portal.
The payment portal is via PayPal and just requires an email address and credit/debit card if you don’t have a PayPal account.
If you’re using an existing PayPal account, it’s very important you have access to the email address linked to your PayPal account as you will be sent a unique access code to that address in order to view the stream.

I’m attending the game, what will be expected of me?

Temperature checks will be conducted prior to entry. Spectators will be required to practice social distancing and the use of face masks is encouraged inside and outside the venue. Newcastle Northstars and Sydney Ice Dogs management strongly encourage fans to only attend games at their local venue. We want everyone to safely enjoy the hockey.

Why does the stream cost money?

We want the Hawkesbury Classic to be enjoyed by Australian Hockey fans, to ensure we can deliver a quality product and cover the costs of both teams playing.

I’m from Newcastle, can I attend a game in Sydney? OR I’m from Sydney, can I attend a game in Newcastle?

The management of both the Newcastle Northstars and Sydney Ice Dogs strongly advise against fans travelling to attend games. Our priority is to ensure that the Australian Ice Hockey community can enjoy home grown hockey in the safest way possible. Player, volunteer, fan and local community safety is highly important during this incredibly uncertain time.

I can’t watch the game live, how can I keep up to date?

Make sure you keep an eye on the Newcastle Northstars and Sydney Ice Dogs social media accounts for live updates. You can also check back on the Hawkesbury Classic website after the game to find more information.

Can I watch the games after they’ve been played?

Unfortunately we’re not offering archived recordings of the games at this time, however this may be subject to change in the future.
